April 8-10, 2022
10:00 am-5:30 pm
instructor: Jas Knight
in person @ Townsend Atelier
We are excited to have Jas Knight as one of our 2022 instructors. Jas will teach all of the principles of painting a strong portrait that captures the likeness of the subject while maintaining unity , harmony, and compositional strength within the painting. In this three-day workshop, students will work from a live model and have plenty of painting time, one-on-one critique and instruction from Jas, as well as instructor painting demos.
Jas will teach students how to use Trichromatic Color Theory, a very practical system and approach to color theory that he describes in his book, The Artists’ Trichromatic Theory. This approach to color mixing can be used in all genres of painting and will be useful for artists of all levels of experience well beyond the workshop.
- The workshop will present a practical color theory for painters with varying levels of experience while grounding their painting in reliable and solid technique.
- Informing perception (i.e. sharpening the student’s “seeing”)
- Equipping the student to process the visual information systematically
- Students will learn to self-correct, basics in color mixing, along with how to quickly perceive and lay-in a portrait painting.
There will be a one-hour lunch break each day. For those traveling from out of town, please contact us if you need accommodation recommendations and we will be happy to help/.
