January 27-30, 2022
9 am-5 pm EST
in person @ Townsend Atelier
We are excited to have David Simon back to Townsend Atelier! David is an extremely knowledgeable and generous instructor and a fantastic sculptor. This workshop will cover all aspects of portrait sculpture, from quickly establishing a likeness using measurements to evoking the personality of the model. Students will work from a live model. Model fee is included in the workshop fee.
On the first day of the workshop, students will learn how to quickly and accurately establish the key relationships between the features which are critical to creating a likeness using the process of triangulation. On the second day, we will address symmetry and volume. On the third day, we will establish a pose for the portrait that helps to evoke the personality of the model. On the last day, we will cover finishing techniques.
There will be a one-hour lunch break each day. Lunch is on your own.
We want you to enjoy your class experience while keeping everyone healthy. At the time of this posting (9.27.2021) all students will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (at least 2 doses) upon entry to the workshop on the first day of the class. Instructor and staff are all fully vaccinated. Masks are required to be worn by students, instructor, and staff. Should this change, we will certainly provide any updates here.
