August 21-23, 2020
10 am-5 pm
Instructor: Britt Snyder
Students are welcome to work in oil or acrylic paint.
We are excited to welcome Britt Snyder as a visiting instructor in 2020. This 3-day workshop will guide you towards creating a figurative painting with an emphasis on developing a personal voice in your work. Students will be guided through helpful starters and foundational exercises to planning and executing a figurative painting of their own. Students will be painting from a clothed model from life as well as from photographs that will be taken in the studio.
The workshop will begin with gathering references and creating a plan for what sort of image the student would like to make. The emphasis will be on asking questions and designing an approach that will lead to a successful final painting.
Topics covered will be different approaches to color, working successfully with your source material, thinking in a structural way with painting, editing your work, bringing texture and dynamics into your painting, working with the computer to help your painting process and much more.
There will be a one-hour lunch break each day. Lunch is on your own. For those traveling from out of town, please let us know if you need help with accommodation recommendations and we will be happy to help!
