Townsend Atelier co-owner and instructor Stan Townsend, offers private lessons for the student who wants individualized instruction and critique outside of the class or workshop setting. Lessons are offered in drawing, figure drawing, painting, printmaking, or moldmaking/casting.  More details below.

Townsend Atelier co-owner and instructor Stan Townsend is now offering private lessons for the student who wants individualized instruction and critique outside of the class or workshop setting.   Personalized lesson plans will be tailored to each student’s individual goals and level of ability.  Stan offers lessons in drawing, figure drawing, painting,  printmaking or mold making/casting.

Private lessons are one hour and will be scheduled between the instructor and student.  Students can sign up for a one-hour session or as many as they would like.  Discounts are offered for a 4 session or 8 session package.  Lesson are held at Townsend Atelier.

About the instructor:

Stan Townsend has a BFA from East Tennessee State University with a major in printmaking and a minor in sculpture and drawing.  He has been an instructor in drawing, painting, and printmaking at the Hunter Museum of Art, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Chattanooga State Technical Community College. For ten years he owned and operated Townsend Gallery and Studio in Chattanooga.

His works are in major private and corporate collections nationwide including the Tennessee State Museum, Nashville, TN; IBM, Washington, DC; Alabama Power, Birmingham, AL,  Dulin Gallery of Art, Knoxville, TN, and TVA in Chattanooga, TN.

In 1990, from a national competition, Stan was selected to be a member of the design team for Ross’s Landing Park and Plaza, a 12-acre urban park at the Tennessee Aquarium that features one of the largest public art installations in the state.

For twelve years he was VP of Marketing and Sales for an international polyurethane chemical company where he helped develop products for the sculpture and three–dimensional markets.  He also served as technical consultant and has lectured and taught numerous workshops focusing on the use of modern art materials in molding and casting.  He is co-owner of Townsend Atelier.
